About Us

The House of Adamjee was founded in Burma (Now Myanmar) by the illustrious Sir Adamjee Haji Dawood. Born in 1880 in a town of Gujarat, India called Jetpur, Sir Adamjee ventured out to Burma and started operating as an independent businessman, spending the first few years of his teenage life in rice, match & jute trade. With his keen business sense and financial acumen, he was to meet immense success ahead.

Sir Adamjee Haji Dawood founded institutions and initiatives aimed at uplifting society. His contributions included setting up hospitals, schools, and other welfare projects.

Some Projects Started by Sir Adamjee:

  • Founded Memon Educational and Welfare Society in 1933.
  • In 1934-35, he carried Out Relief Operations for Bihar and Quetta Earthquake victims.
  • Estalished Adamjee High School in 1941 in Jetpur.
  • Founded Muslim Educational Society in 1943.
  • Established Adamjee Boarding House at Karachi in 1947.

 

Following in his footsteps, subsequent generations of the Adamjee family have continued this tradition of social service. They established the Adamjee Foundation, which has played a pivotal role in addressing various social challenges. Over the years, the foundation has been involved in diverse projects ranging from healthcare to education, poverty alleviation, and community development.

The foundation’s commitment to education is evident through initiatives like establishing educational institutions, providing scholarships, and supporting academic programs. They have also been instrumental in healthcare, contributing to hospitals and medical facilities, ensuring access to quality healthcare for underserved communities.

Some Prominent Projects Started by subsequent generations of Adamjee Family:

  • Memon Education and Welfare Society Pakistan Chapter is established in 1953.
  • In 1960, the Adamjee sons established The Adamjee Foundation.
  • In 1961, The Adamjee High School is established in Dhaka.
  • In 1961, the Adamjee Science College is established.
  • 1970, The Adamjee Literacy Award for students is  introduced.
  • In 1971, The Lady Mariam Adamjee Girls School is established in Karachi.
  • In 1975, a Heart Disease Ward is donated to Cardiovascular Institute in Karachi.
  • The Adamjee Foundation establishes the Adamjee Eye Hospital for subsidized cataract surgeries.
